Clay McLaurin Studio was established in 2013 with the belief that the environment we live in should be a reflection of our own lives and experiences. His personal discoveries and explorations are brought to life in a collection of home textiles and wall coverings. Rattan, reeds, seaweed, vines, birds, palms, etc. are all inspirations to Clay, and have been shaped into patterns. Clay’s hand is very evident in his textiles. As an artist it is important for him to paint each pattern before bringing it to life in the form of fabric. This type of execution adds to the organic quality his patterns evoke. Natural, raw, serene, organic, and easy are words that Clay holds near to him. He wants his collections to be like a cabinet of curiosities: collected over time, embodying beauty, history and most importantly, outliving fleeting trends.
