Pioneering in her medium of thread-on-layered-fabric, Deidre Scherer has exhibited her work since 1979 in over 160 shows including solos at the Baltimore Museum of Art; the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY; the Redding Museum of Art, Redding, CA; the Hebrew Union College Museum, NYC; and the Maltwood Art Museum, Victoria, BC. She received a 1999 Fine Arts Fellowship from the Open Society Institute, and the 2010 RISD Alumni Association Award for Artistic Achievement. Scherer’s work promotes a dialogue about aging and dying as a natural part of life within the context of community and relationship.
