Maria Polky is a full time studio potter living in Portland, Maine. Her work consists of tableware and home décor, including planters inspired by cacti and plant life of the southwest. Beginning with wheel thrown forms, she employs hand building techniques to create textured, sculptural surfaces. The process is completed with intricate layers of glaze, many of which are made from raw materials.
