MATT FROCK

MATT (CARL) FROCK [1997, Illustration]

Based in Ypres, Belgium

Matt Frock’s paintings developed under the influence of Nihonga brush work and the paintings of western artists, Howard Hodgkin and Ed Clark. Matt’s application of paint and color creates space, balance, and presence. Ultimately, the work concludes reminiscent of something, somewhere, or someone. The brushwork is an emotional response to the memories and emotions stirred in the heart of the artist by the composition developing on the substrate. Consciousness in action. The paintings become an imprint of the artists consciousness and contain all the seeds there in.
