Mike Stoddard is best known for creating absurd paintings of ordinary objects in unusual situations. With strong influences from the surrealists and pop art his work often stretches the viewers’ preconception of reality by giving new meaning to familiar things. His subject matter frequently includes people, animals, and cars depicted figuratively, as well as abstractly with bright colors and dense patterns. In addition to painting, he also works with metal and glass to make sculptural art. Stoddard received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2010 and currently resides in the greater Boston area.
